Phew, those were some busy days (and mostly nights) I had, but it all seems to work out quite well, so it’s time to infom you about stuff that’s happening

1. The Business Plan and Investors

The most important thing to get investors is to provide them with a well-thought plan.
They don’t want to lose money, they want to make money in the end. So the plan needs to be realistic, you need to know how much you need to create and sell your product and how much sales you will get, etc.
It took me quite a while to calculate all the costs, take into account that some parts are paid in USD and the USD / EUR conversion rate can change, etc.
I also included additional costs for marketing and development, maybe hire someone for actively work on the OS or port software, etc. and make the Pandora more known and popular.
The more users and developers we can get, the better for all of us!

That was quite a bit of work, but I finished the plan two days ago and gave it to my really helpful tax consultant, who is quite experienced with such things as well (she helped some companies already to find investors).
She thinks the business plan is very well thought of. I‘ve been very careful with costs to make sure I have MORE money than needed.
Actually, she told me she‘ll also invest, so that’s a good sign, isn’t it?

With the plan, she calculated the value of my company and the possible realistic profit for investors.
My lawyers have already started to work on the contracts for possible investors (together with my tax consultant) and I will create an english version of the business plan within the next few days (the current one is German).

So basically, we‘re almost ready for some investments!

What’s needed if you want to invest?
Well, the absolute minimum would be 2000 EUR.
However, that value would probably only make sense if you live within the EU. Yes, you would get part of the profit made, however, depending on where you live, bank transfer costs, conversion costs or taxes you might have to pay on such profit would take most of that profit away.
That’s something you‘d need to check out first. Bank transfer costs could be skipped by using PayPal, but the conversion costs from EUR to other currencies could eat a lot of the profit.

2. From Texas to Germany – to a company which is being praised by its customers

As you might know, we already own a lot of parts for the next few thousand Pandoras (the ones from Texas Instruments, to be exact).
One of the biggest distributor for TI parts is EBV, and that’s where Craig bought the parts from.
However, EBV is also the distributor where Global Components (the new PCB company) buys the TI parts from.
I was having a chat today with my contact from EBV (also a bavarian company, BTW)
I was talking with him about the parts and they offered to move them from Texas to Germany. This saves us costs and trouble and is a really nice and helpful move from them

Another encouraging thing:
We were also talking about Global Components, and EBV has been working with them for years.
It seems customers are praising Global Components. They have a VERY good reputation and are very reliable.
That’s something great
I‘m really happy to have found a reliable company now

3. Preorders coming soon!

As mentioned in my last post, more preorders for Pandoras will be taken soon!
No payment in advance needed, but please only order if you‘re really interested in getting one.
If you always wanted to get a second unit or never ordered because you didn’t want to spend money upfront – here’s your chance. No risk involved.

Once the Pandora is ready, you will be informed and after you did your payment, the unit will be shipped to you.

In case you are still waiting for your preordered paid unit, there’s no need to reorder here.
Your order is valid and will be shipped to you from either the shipments that are being sent from CircuitCo every once in a while or from the Germany company – whatever is faster.

4. Pandora repairs and OS upgrades

You probably know that I‘m doing most of the Pandora repairs (bad nubs, bad LCD cables).
I was pretty busy with the business plan (top priority right now is to get everything going properly!), so I didn’t have much time to repair units.
I fixed 8 Pandoras this week, about 15 are left to be fixed.

When the whole investor / business plan thing is done and I‘ve finally signed the contract for the Pandora production, I‘ve got a lot more time and repairs will happen way faster.
I also want to continue on the OS and finalize HF6!

I‘m sorry it takes so long, but I‘m just one person and can’t split up yet (maybe someone should invent that )

5. Conclusion

So all in all, I‘m content right now.
Of course, it would‘ve been great if we never had these issues with CircuitCo, but it seems at least here in Germany things are working out.

The business plan is looking promising, Global Components has a very good reputation and is being praised by its customers so the only thing left now are investors.
Something that is certainly possible.

Once that has been done, nothing should prevent the Pandora production from happening!

Puh, das waren ein paar anstrengende Tage (und hauptsächlich Nächte) für mich, aber so wie es aussieht, entwickelt sich alles zum Guten. Also, Zeit euch darüber auf dem Laufenden zu halten.

1. Der Geschäftsplan und die Investoren

Das wichtigste, um an Investoren zu kommen, ist ihnen einen gut durchdachten Geschäftsplan vorzulegen.
Sie wollen kein Geld verlieren, sondern am Ende davon profitieren. Der Geschäftsplan sollte deshalb realistisch sein. Man muss genau Wissen wieviel Geld man für Herstellung und Verkauf seines Produktes benötigt, und wieviele Verkäufe man erzielen wird, etc.
Es hat mich einige Zeit gekostet alle Kosten durchzurechnen, dabei zu beachten, dass einige Teile in US Dollar bezahlt werden, sich der Wechselkurs USD / Euro ändert, etc.
Auch zusätzliche Kosten für Werbung und Entwicklung wurden berücksichtigt. Vielleicht wird jemand angeheuert, um das Betriebssystem weiter zu entwickeln, oder Software zu portieren, etc. oder die Pandora bekannter und beliebter zu machen.
Je mehr Käufer und Entwickler wir finden, desto besser für alle von uns!

Es war ein ganz schönes Stück Arbeit, aber ich habe den Geschäftsplan vor zwei Tagen fertig gestellt, und habe ihn meiner wirklich sehr hilfreichen Steuerberaterin gegeben. Sie hat auch schone einige Erfahrung damit, da sie in der Vergangenheit bereits anderen Firmen bei der Investorensuche geholfen hat.
Sie denkt, dass der Geschäftsplan wirklich gut durchdacht ist. Ich war sehr vorsichtig, als es um die Kosten ging, um sicher zu stellen, dass ich mehr Geld haben werde als ich wirklich brauche.
Sie hat mir sogar gesagt, dass sie selbst investieren will. Das ist doch ein gutes Zeichen, oder ?

Mit Hilfe des Geschäftsplans hat sie den Wert meiner Firma und den wahrscheinlich realistischen Profit der Investoren berechnet.
Meine Anwälte haben bereits (zusammen mit meiner Steuerberaterin) damit begonnen, die Verträge für mögliche Investoren auszuarbeiten. In den nächsten Tagen werde ich auch eine englische Version des Plans erstellen (derzeitig ist er nur in Deutsch verfügbar).

Wir sind also so gut wie bereit für Investitionen!

Welche Vorraussetzungen müssen erfüllt sein, wenn ihr investieren wollt?
Nun, die minimale Investitionsmenge wird 2000 Euro betragen.
Diese Höhe wird wahrscheinlich aber nur Sinn ergeben, wenn ihr innerhalb der EU lebt. Ja, ihr bekommt euren Anteil am Gewinn, aber, abhängig von eurem Wohnort, Transaktionskosten der Bank, Wechselkursverlusten und Steuern (die möglicherweise auf derartige Gewinne anfallen) wird sich euer Gewinn entsprechend verringern.
Das ist etwas, was ihr vorher in Erfahrung bringen müsst. Transaktionsgebühren der Bank lassen sich vielleicht mit PayPal umgehen, aber Verluste die durch das Wechseln von Euro in andere Währungen enstehen, können einen großen Teil des Gewinns auffressen.

2. Von Texas nach Deutschland – zu einer Firma, die von ihren Kunden in den höchsten Tönen gelobt wird

Wie ihr vielleicht bereits wisst, befinden sich bereits etliche Bauteile (die Bauteile von Texas Instruments, um genau zu sein) für die nächsten paar tausend Pandora bereits in unserem Besitz.
Einer der größten Distributoren für Bauteile ist EBV, und von ihnen hat Craig auch die Teile gekauft.
Ich hatte heute eine kleine Unterhaltung mit meiner Kontaktperson bei EBV (nebenbei bemerkt, ebenfalls eine bayrische Firma).
Ich habe mich mit ihm über die Bauteile unterhalten, und sie haben angeboten, den Transport von Texas nach Deutschland zu übernehmen. Das wird uns Ärger und Kosten sparen, und ist ein wirklich netter und hilfreicher Zug von ihnen.

Noch etwas aufmunterndes:
Wir haben uns auch über Global Components unterhalten, und EBV arbeitet wohl schon seit einigen Jahren mit ihnen zusammen.
So wie es aussieht loben die Kunden Global Components. Sie besitzen eine SEHR gute Reputation und sind sehr verlässlich.
Da ist doch was tolles!
Ich bin ziemlich froh darüber endlich eine zuverlässige Firma gefunden zu haben!

3. Es gibt bald wieder die Möglickeit zur Vorbestellung!

Wie bereits in meinem letzten Beitrag geschrieben werden bald wieder Vorbestellungen für die Pandora angenommen!
Eine Vorrauszahlung ist nicht nötig, aber bitte bestellt nur eine, wenn ihr sie auch wirklich haben wollt.
Wenn ihr schon immer eine Zweite haben wolltet, oder nie eine bestellt habt, weil ihr das Geld nicht vorstrecken wolltet – jetzt habt ihr die Chance – ohne Risiko.

Sobald die Pandora fertig ist, werdet ihr benachrichtigt. Nachdem ihr bezahlt habt, wird die Pandora auch zugesandt.

Sofern ihr immer noch auf eure bereits vorbestellte Pandora wartet, bedarf es keiner weiteren Vorbestellung.
Eure Bestellung ist immer noch gültig, und wird entweder aus den Lieferungen von CircuitCo (die ab und zu mal kommen) oder von der neuen Firma in Deutschland zusammen gesetzt – je nach dem, was schneller geht.

4. Reparaturen und Verbesserungen am Betriebssystem

Ich wisst wahrscheinlich, dass ich den Großteil der Reparaturen an den Pandoras (defekte Nubs, Displaykabel) mache.
Ich war ziemlich beschäftigt mit dem Geschäftsplan (höchste Priorität hat derzeit alles unter Dach und Fach zu bringen), weshalb ich nicht viel Zeit für die Reparaturen übrig hatte.
Ich habe diese Woche acht repariert, und etwa 15 sind noch übrig.

Sobald die Angelegenheit mit dem Geschäftsplan / den Investoren vom Tisch ist, und ich endlich den Vertrag für die Produktion der Pandora unterzeichnet habe, werde ich eine ganze Menge mehr Zeit haben, und Reparaturen werden um einiges schneller von statten gehen.
Ich habe auch vor am Betriebssystem weiter zu feilen, und HF6 fertig zu stellen!

Es tut mir leid, dass es so lange gedauert hat, aber ich bin nunmal nur eine Person, und kann mich nicht teilen (vielleicht sollte jemand das mal erfinden)

5. Zusammenfassung

Alles in allem bin ich derzeit zufrieden.
Natürlich wäre es schön gewesen, wenn wir die Probleme mit CircuitCo nicht gehabt hätten, aber so wie es aussieht laufen die Dinge wenigstens in Deutschland nach Plan.

Der Geschäftsplan sieht vielversprechend aus, Global Components hat einen sehr guten Ruf, und wird von seinen Kunden gelobt, fehlen nur noch die Investoren.
Was sicherlich kein Problem sein sollte.

Sobald auch dies erledigt ist, sollte der Produktion der Pandora nichts mehr im Wege stehen

And it might be a lot more soon. My tax counsellor (who also wants to invest ) calculated everything and now investments from 2000 EUR and higher make sense.
