Neues gibt es leider nicht zu erfahren, aber ich möchte mich auch nicht des „auf der faulen Haut“ liegens schuldig machen:

Sorry for the lack of news during the last 10 days – I was simply running out of time.
Besides my normal life job, I was building, shipping and repairing Pandoras during the day while soldering LCD cables and replying to eMails during the night.
Oh, and worked on the OS, so that HotFix 5 will be final soon (RC2 is out already). I also skinned PanPlayer and mednafen-pcengine… so yeah, life was (and still is) pretty busy for me.

So, what happened in Pandora-Land?
Well, CircuitCo still managed to produce and send us more boards, which is good.
They still didn’t manage to send us a schedule so we can only guess how many PCBs will be finished when. So far, shipments were a random number between 150 and 500 every 1 – 2 weeks, which is okay, but we rather would like to know exactly what is happening and when everything will be finished.
This is common practice in PCB assembly (we had no such problems with the iControlpads, they were all finished the day the company told us they will be), so I guess it’s something we can expect from them as well (and kept requesting it since christmas…)

There seems to be hope though – CircuitCo has hired a new employee who introduced himself as being responsible for the Pandora production now – planning and quality assurance.
He wants to send us a proper schedule until the end of the week and ship boards weekly in regular numbers. That would be a dream – if that really is something he can do, we could finally give way more accurate numbers when you guys will get your Pandoras, not just guesstimations based on CircuitCo’s production.

Time will tell though – but if CircuitCo continues to spit out boards like they did from January on, we‘ll continue shipping Pandoras, which is most important.

Thanks to a few Premium Units sold, Craig could hire a bigger team and catch up with Pandora Assembly. Also, he could get some staff to test broken boards to clearly label them and ship them back to CC to get them repaired. This really helped us a lot and sped some things up significantly!

We are expecting more boards this week (or did Craig already get them?), but there seemed to have been a production pause for one week. Let’s hope that was the only week.

I‘ll keep you updated, as soon as I get more infos from the new employee. Hopefully, he can plan and organize things properly!

Entschuldigt das Ausbleiben von Neuigkeiten (von offizieller Seite) in den letzten 10 Tagen – mir blieb einfach keine Zeit.
Neben meiner regulären Tätigkeit, habe ich tagsüber Pandoras zusammengebaut, versendet und repariert und nachts Displaykabel gelötet und E-Mails beantwortet.
Oh, und ich habe auch am Betriebssystem weiter gearbeitet, damit die finale Version HotFix 5 bald fertig wird (RC2 ist bereits freigegeben). Zusätzlich habe ich PanPlayer und mednafen-pcengine ein neues Äußeres verpasst – ich war (und bin es immer noch) ziemlich beschäftigt.

Was hat sich im Pandora-Land getan?
CircuitCo hat es geschafft uns weiter mit Platinen zu versorgen, was gut ist.
Sie haben es allerdings immer noch nicht geschafft uns einen Zeitplan zu geben, weshalb wir nur Vermutungen anstellen können, wann wieviele Platinen fertig sein werden. Bis jetzt hat sich die Anzahl der Platinen pro Lieferung zwischen 150 und 500 alle ein bis zwei Wochen bewegt, was okay ist, aber wir würden einfach gerne genau wissen, wie die derzeitige Lage ist, und wann alles fertig sein wird.
Das ist eigentlich nichts ungewöhnliches in der Platinenproduktion (wir hatten diese Probleme nicht beim iControlpad, da waren alle Platinen an dem Tag fertig, der uns zugesagt wurde), deshalb sollten wir das auch von denen (CircuitCo) erwarten können (und was wir auch nicht müde werden zu verlangen seit Weihnachten).

Es gibt aber Grund zur Hoffnung – CircuitCo hat eine Neueinstellung vorgenommen, die sich als Verantwortlicher für die Planung und Qualitätskontrolle der Pandoraproduktion vorgestellt hat.
Er will uns bis zum Ende der Woche einen Zeitplan geben, und konstante Zahlen  in wöchentlichen Lieferungen erreichen. Das wäre ein Traum – wenn er das wirklich hinbekommt könnten wir endlich verlässliche Aussagen treffen, wann ihr eure Pandora bekommt, anstatt einfach ins Blaue hinein zu raten.

Wir werden sehen – aber wenn CircuitCo weiter Platinen produziert, so wie sie es seit Januar machen, werden wir auch weiter Pandoras ausliefern, was auf jeden Fall das Wichtigste ist.

Dank der paar Premium – Pandoras, die verkauft wurden, konnte Craig zusätzliche Leute anwerben, um bei der Produktion der Pandora aufzuholen. Er konnte auch einen Teil der Leute nutzen, um nicht funktionierende Platinen zu testen, klar zu Kennzeichen und zurück zu CircuitCo zur Reparatur zu schicken. Was uns wirklich geholfen hat, und auch einiges deutlich beschleunigt hat!

Wir erwarten diese Woche neue Platinen (oder hat Craig sie vielleicht schon bekommen?), aber es gab wohl eine Produktionspause von einer Woche. Hoffen wir mal, dass es bei dieser einen Woche bleibt.

Ich halte euch auf dem Laufenden, sobald ich neue Informationen vom neuen CircuitCo -Angestellten bekomme. Hoffen wir mal, dass er gut im Planen und Organisieren ist!
